Year 3

Here are some thoughts from the children about their experiences in Year 3

“Year 3 is the first year in juniors so on your first day it’s quite hard to find where everything is.  However it doesn’t take long to settle in then it’s great because you feel good being a junior.”  Lucas

Literacy

“I loved writing stories especially the one where we were given a picture and then we had to write a story about it.”  Sian

Maths

“We did lots of fun sums – they were quite easy for us!  Sometimes we even did smartie Maths where you get a box of smarties and you have to count how many there are.  The best bit is when we get to eat them!”  Kate

Roman BritainICT

“Noisy Things!  It’s where you have to try click on some things then you make really loud noises.  You wear headphones to do it.”  Jack K

Science

“We enjoyed seeing how volcanoes erupted. Miss Penrose got a kit and when she powder stuff and vinegar together it erupted.  The funniest bit was when Miss Penrose had to wear goggles.  The nappy thing was also fun because we put red food colouring in water and it just dissolved in to the nappy!”  Poppy and Daisy

History

“Ancient Egypt was a brilliant start – learning about hieroglyphics and pyramids.  Then when we did the Romans, watching the video was really funny!”  Ben H-H

Geography

“It was fun looking up different countries in an atlas.” Katie P

Art

“ I loved art because we painted polystyrene heads – I made mine look like a monster with fangs.”  Toby

Art: Polystyrene HeadDT

“You get to make all sorts of fun stuff.  I most enjoyed when we designed and made wall hangings to show the seasons and weather.  We sewed all the pictures on to make them into calendars for our families.  We got to make our own sandwiches and eat them – they were yummy!”  Hannah

RE

“Hinduism was great because we got to draw pictures and we looked at statues.  We enjoyed making Rangoli patterns.  The creation story was also interesting.”  Livvy H and Millie.

Music

“The best bit was using the instruments especially the little egg shakers.”  Russell

Outdoor Games

“I really liked the football and the running.  Basketball and netball skills were really helpful too.  In fact it was all brilliant!”  Ethan K and Russell

Indoor PE

“It was amazing fun we got the wall apparatus and the bar out and the different colour mats for going under like a tunnel.”  Ethan K and Russell
